How credentials are handled
- Secrets are stored masked. Once saved, you see something like
••••AB12rather than the value. - Leaving a field blank on save leaves the existing value alone. You do not have to re-paste a secret to change a neighbouring field.
- Each card shows a status, when it was last verified, and the last error if verification failed. That error message is the first thing to read when an integration stops working.
- Each provider can be disabled without deleting its credentials.
Stub mode
Without credentials, several integrations run in stub mode rather than failing:
| Provider | Stub behaviour |
|---|---|
| Australia Post | Synthetic tracking numbers, no real labels |
| Supplier catalogues | A small sample catalogue instead of the real range |
Stub mode is useful while you evaluate. It is not something to run a live shop on, because your customers get tracking numbers that do not track and quotes on garments you cannot buy.
Which to connect first
- Stripe. Getting paid without chasing is the biggest single win.
- Transactional email, so customer email comes from your own domain and lands reliably.
- A supplier, so your catalogue and costs are real.
- Twilio, if your customers are the kind who answer texts and ignore email. Most retail customers are.
- Accounting, once you are running enough volume that manual entry is a chore.
Australia Post only matters if you ship parcels yourself in Australia.
