Email broadcasts
Insight, then Email broadcasts. A broadcast is a marketing message to a segment of your customers, as opposed to the transactional templates that fire on events.

Creating one

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Name | Internal reference |
| Channel | |
| Subject | What lands in the inbox |
| Body | The message. The same and variables work here |
| Audience | Which customers it goes to |
| Status | Draft, scheduled or sent |
| Scheduled for | When to send |
| Recipients | How many it went to |
Compliance, which is not optional
Marketing email is regulated differently from transactional email, and the product handles the mechanics:
- Every marketing email carries a one-click unsubscribe through a signed link. No login, no confusion.
- An unsubscribed contact is excluded from future broadcasts automatically.
- Contacts carry a marketing opt-out flag, and SMS carries its own, handled by inbound STOP and START.
Do not work around an unsubscribe by re-importing a contact. Aside from being unlawful in most jurisdictions, it is the fastest way to get your sending domain reputation ruined.
Broadcasts that earn their send
Print shops have a genuine advantage here: seasonal demand is predictable.
| Timing | Message |
|---|---|
| Six weeks before a season starts | "Club kit orders before the presses fill up" |
| Before end of financial year | "Get merch booked before June 30" |
| After a quiet period on an account | "We have press capacity this month" |
Two rules: send rarely, and give a reason to act now. The dashboard's top customers and the health scores on customer records tell you who is worth a targeted send rather than a blanket one.
Before you send to your whole list
Send it to yourself first. Check the from-name, the reply-to, that variables substituted, that the unsubscribe link works, and that it reads correctly on a phone.
