What's New

The October 2026 release (version 2.8.0, 9 October 2026) closes gaps that a shop would have hit in its first month: payments that did not reach invoices, a workspace that could not be set up without help, documents that printed the wrong tax, and copy that promised features that did not exist. This page lists the changes a customer can see. The full release history is at printersfriend.com/changelog.

October 2026

Money

  • Shops on their own Stripe keys now have their own webhook endpoint, shown on the Stripe card with a copy button and the four events to subscribe to. Card payments on pay links, refunds and disputes are recorded on the invoice. See Stripe.
  • An order is invoiced once. The Issue invoice action on the order raises a full invoice, or a deposit as a percentage of the ex-tax total, before dispatch; dispatch then issues the balance. See Invoices and payments.
  • Invoice reminders follow a cadence: three days before the due date, on the due date, seven days after and fourteen days after. Paid and part-paid invoices are skipped. The pay link is created before the invoice email goes out and sits in the email.
  • Returns have their own screen with lines, a resolution and a refund that goes back through Stripe for card payments or is recorded as a manual reversal. A credit issues a credit note invoice. See Returns and credits.
  • Manual payments record a reference and a received date. Payment terms are a list (Net 7, 14, 30, 60, end of month, cash on delivery) on the customer record, and the due date is computed from them.
  • Customers carry billing and shipping addresses with a default. The order form picks them, and the packing slip and shipping label print them.

Documents, Tax and Currency

  • Every quote, invoice, work order, packing slip and purchase order prints the tax label, tax rate and currency set under Brand & portal. US and UK shops no longer see GST or dollar signs.
  • Documents render through a real browser engine. When a PDF cannot be produced the download says so and the email leaves out the attachment sentence.
  • The shop has a time zone, set under Brand & portal and defaulted from your billing region. Clock-in times, today's tables, due dates and the late badge use it.

Customer Communication

  • Emails sent through the platform mailer leave with your shop's name as the sender name and your contact email as the reply address, so a customer who replies reaches you. See Transactional email.
  • The quote email carries signed Accept this quote and Request changes links, valid for 30 days, that need no portal account.
  • Store, campaign and cart buyers receive their own proof, invoice and dispatch emails.
  • Staff are told in the panel and by email when a customer approves artwork, requests a change, accepts a quote or places an order through a store, campaign, kiosk or cart.
  • The artwork chaser reports the real number of days waiting, includes a fresh approval link, stops after two chases and raises a task for staff.
  • A quote, invoice or proof whose email failed to send shows a warning on the record and in the activity timeline, and does not flip to sent.
  • Approval, print queue, dispatch and kiosk confirmation messages go by SMS as well as email when the contact has a phone number, Twilio is connected and the plan includes SMS. See Twilio SMS.
  • Templates have Preview and Send test, render a plain text version, and greet the contact by name with .

Setting Up Without Help

  • Catalogue import under Records takes a CSV of brands, styles, colourways, sizes and SKUs, reports what was created and matched, and offers a template to download. Styles and colours have their own screens. See Catalogue and SKUs.
  • The customer record has contacts, addresses and portal users. Invite to portal on a contact creates the login and sends the set-password email.
  • The setup wizard runs until you finish or skip it, and can load a sample set (garments, a customer, a quote and a portal login) that you remove in one click.
  • Uploads accept files up to 50 MB.

The Floor

  • Stock is consumed when a job enters production and never crashes the move. A stage move that cannot complete shows a notification with the reason.
  • The production board and the floor boards update every fifteen seconds on every open screen.
  • Each card on the production board has a Move button that opens the list of stages, and dragging works on touch screens.
  • Document numbers are issued under a lock, so two people creating quotes at the same moment never collide.
  • The floor board and operator stations open on a wall TV through a signed display link that needs no login and can be revoked from the workspace. See Shop floor hardware.
  • The walk-in kiosk is off by default. Switch it on under Brand & portal, set a six digit PIN, and unlock each device once. See The walk-in kiosk.

Team and Security

  • Owners and managers sign in with an authenticator app. Passwords are at least 12 characters. API tokens expire after 365 days and show their expiry date.
  • Reassign open work on a team member moves their open quotes and orders. Deactivating someone closes their open time entries and asks where their work goes. Only an owner can grant or remove the owner role, and the last active owner cannot be removed.
  • Make billing contact hands the billing emails to another owner.
  • Every request inside the workspace is scoped to your shop, and the kiosk answers 404 on a device that has not been unlocked with the PIN.

Billing and Account

  • Start subscription on the Billing page restarts a lapsed, cancelled or never-subscribed workspace at Stripe Checkout, with every record intact.
  • A failed payment emails you, shows a banner with the date and an Update card button, and gives you a seven day grace period. If the card is not fixed the workspace drops to the free tier with every record intact. A failed payment never deletes anything.
  • Cancelling starts a 30 day read-only window, stated the same way in the terms, the privacy policy and the emails. See Cancelling and the 30 day window.
  • Checkout asks for a billing address, and adds tax where Printer's Friend is registered to collect it.
  • A sign-in chooser at printersfriend.com/sign-in sends staff to their workspace and customers to their shop's portal. A workspace finder at printersfriend.com/workspace looks up your address.

Integrations

  • Australia Post books the shipment, downloads the label PDF and stores the tracking number on the order, using the sender address and default carton from Brand & portal. See Shipping: Australia Post.
  • Xero and QuickBooks Online connect through OAuth with no keys to paste. The card offers the buttons once the platform's accounting apps are enabled, and says "not available yet" until then. See Accounting.
  • Resend joins Postmark as a sender for your own transactional email.
  • The AS Colour card has Sync now, and the nightly sync skips shops without credentials. The sync is planned and has not been verified against a real trade account, so the CSV import is the path to use today. SanMar and Ralawise cards are withdrawn until adapters exist.
  • Outbound webhooks emit invoice.issued, invoice.paid and artwork.approved alongside order.stage_changed and order.dispatched. See Webhook events.
  • Demi replies "Demi is not enabled on this workspace yet" until the platform enables the assistant.

The Site and the Docs

  • The pricing, features, compare and integrations pages read from one capability registry, so a feature is listed as shipped, not available yet, or planned, and the wording cannot drift.
  • The terms, privacy policy, DPA, security and cookie pages name the real hosting, email, payment, SMS and analytics providers, the backup posture and the deletion window. An accessibility statement sits in the footer.
  • A public status page at printersfriend.com/status runs live probes against the sign-in pages, the API, the queue, the scheduler, backups and certificates.
  • This documentation site was rebuilt with one guide per screen and a screenshot captured from the shipped product on every page.
