Affiliate team stores

Records, then Affiliate store editor. A team store is a branded storefront for one customer at /store/{slug}, selling the styles you choose at that customer's rate.

The affiliate store editor

Why they work

A club committee does not want to collect sizes on a spreadsheet, and you do not want to receive that spreadsheet. Give the club a store, send members to the link, and the orders arrive already itemised, at the right prices, without a single phone call about whether a medium will fit.

The store is on your domain and looks like the club's. To their members it feels like the club's shop, not a software vendor's.

A store that gets used

  • Restrict the styles. A club store with four garments converts; one with your whole range confuses. Tick the styles that are actually their kit.
  • Use their colour, not yours. The store is theirs.
  • Write the blurb for their members, not for the committee. Members want to know what it costs and when it arrives.
  • Add a call to action widget with the closing date if the club is running a season order.
  • Keep custom CSS out of it unless you have a real reason. It is there for the one club whose brand guidelines demand it.

Publishing and sharing

Leave publish off while you build, then turn it on and send the club the link. The page carries its own social card, so a link posted to the club's Facebook group unfurls with a picture.

What happens when a member orders

  1. They add to cart and check out as a guest. No account needed.
  2. The cart lives in the session, keyed by store slug.
  3. Checkout leaves a draft quote with your shop.
  4. Optional card capture follows through a time-boxed signed link, which converts the draft into an order and an invoice and sends them to your hosted payment page.

You still see every order before it prints, which is what you want when 40 members have each picked their own size.

Rolling them up

Individual member orders for the same club can be ganged into one press run with batch production, which is where the margin on team stores actually comes from.
